Part of being a great Dog Owner is by being a Great Dog Handler. So, you will need to know some basics. For our favorite startup we suggest 3 books. [contains NON-SPONSORED CONTENT]


These 3 publications are so comprehensive, it's great for those responsible Youngsters to get started. This is what we recommend.


Then move on to develop a better encompassed view; Dog Training 101: Step-by-Step Instructions for raising a happy well-behaved dog! by Kyra Sundance. This book will give you a bright and fun•damental view of Dog Ownership, and a Lifestyle with them.

But DON'T FORGET the best one of them all 101 Dog Tricks: Step by Step Activities to Engage, Challenge, and Bond with Your Dog! by Kyra Sundance. Part of the great GAME of Dog Ownership is CREATIVITY. The Author has created a kaleidoscope of visual and intuitive ways to assist handlers with that very thing.

If you got this far; you are only a few pages, and winks away from the possibility that requires consistency, commitment, and ambition. Ask yourself "What's my purpose for having a Dog, and what kind of lifestyle can Me and my Dog achieve together?"

High Desert Obedience Club

COURSE PROFILE 
Title: Practical & Performance Obedience

Description: Training is forever; Come and Learn the needed skills for jumps, platforms, direction casting, retrieve, continuing course work, activities; and games. As well as the practical use of Leash Skills and Rally in your urban lifestyle. 

Include: Pre-requisites of completion of the HiDOC Basic Novice (or w/ Instructor Referral), or a Canine Good Citizen title. This is a continuing and progressive Intermediate and/or Higher Level HANDLER program. Dogs may be any age; so long as they are not dangerous or disruptive. 

Equipment: Teams may use ONLY a slip collar, or flat buckle collar; with a 6 foot leather or nylon lead. A tab lead may be used; IF applicable.

Price: $90 - accepting Veterans & all other HiDOC discounts; not to exceed 15%.

Time: 5 weeks / 6pm to 7pm
Dates: May - August 2024 ("Sessions" 2 & 3)
Cap: Max 20 teams

Description: In recognition of National Walking the Dog Day. Join the members of the High Desert Obedience Club; for a Walk in the Park in the Month of March. Join the High Desert Obedience Club (HiDOC) members as we promenade our pooches; in respect of the responsibility to our Lifestyles with our dogs. This event is open to the public (No AKC Registration or Affiliation Required); as it encourages a safe, exercise, and socializing environment; as long as we keep moving forward, and appreciate everyone's space.

Include: No prerequisites to join; safety first. This is an AKC FIT Dog Club Event courtesy of The Treat Fairy℠ | Zombie Outbreak Response Team (K9 Unit)

Equipment: bring your AKC FIT Dog log (if applicable), a bowl, maximum 6’ lead, dog, and comfortable walking shoes. No retractable leashes, or longlines permitted. 

Price: Asking $5 donation, or 5 lbs. Bag of Dog kibble to High Desert Obedience Club [HiDOC]
